4/4/2024 0 Comments Kapa guitar serial numbers![]() ![]() There are finish scratches, and signs of age in and near the edges of the binding, as well as a few minor dings. The neck is a two-piece, and is narrow and thin as was common with many guitars of the 1960s. This guitar plays great, has been professionally set up, and appears to be all original except the nut. Serial numbers of all the examples I've seen of this model have all started with '24', and this one being 24016 would indicate this was one of the first few produced - presuming the numbers were assigned in order. There's a lot of conflicting information around about these guitars, but it appears that many parts (pickups, electronics, necks and perhaps even bodies) were sourced from Hofner in Germany and from various suppliers in Japan. ![]() ![]() Mosrite subsequently moved Kapa production to Japan. A limited number of these guitars were produced in the USA in the 1960s before the company was sold to Mosrite Guitars, around 1970. Up for sale is a very early serial number Series 500 Kapa hollowbody electric guitar in great shape. ![]()
